Loss of status waiting on LMIA decision

The situation with backlogs with ESDC.

When candidates from within Canada are unable to apply for new work permits due to the delay in processing LMIA's and thereby losing status... I recognise that the public outcry is changing the strategy of government departments but this is affecting the work force AND Canadian employers.

Why are government agencies not working together or at the least showing understanding of the delays? Previously, BC employer registration were required and provided proof was submitted that the application was made, ESDC would shelve the LMIA until this was recieved.. why is this process not followed by IRCC?

Can someone please help me understand? How do we advocate for our clients who are in this situation? And I am not talking about LMIA applications just submitted. I am talking about LMIA applications submitted in February, May and July. It is already November.

The 60 days allowed may have been useful in the past but with current backlogs, this is not encouraging at all. An extended shelving is required and quickly.

ESDC are currently working on applications received March 8th, 2024
